This is our list of technology trends to watch out for in 2017. We have managed to bring together a wide range of topics – everything from artificial intelligence to adaptive security. Although some of these trends might have seen a mention in 2016, we believe 2017 will see these technologies put to real use. So buckle up; we are going on the fast lane to future now!

Virtual Reality
We are starting with our favorite – Virtual and augmented reality. Although we have used Virtual reality gears, majorly, for gaming or watching movies, we believe that it is only the tip of the virtual iceberg. In fact, the future will see virtual reality transform businesses completely. VR can help businesses to market their products more effectively. Interactive demos, training, product innovation and design, enhancing human – machine interaction, improving gaming experience are reasons why virtual reality might become more real. Additionally, it also helps customers and workers of organizations collaborate effectively from varied geographical locations.
On the other hand, augmented reality has already seen its fair share of success with the success of Pokemon Go. Augmented reality is expected to be a real hit because of its ability to superimpose digital information over real world. In time, users are going to demand for better smartphone experiences and companies that provide VR and augmented reality experiences will find more takers.
Fact: The number of active virtual reality users could touch 171 million by the year 2018, an exponential growth from a mere 43 million in 2016.
Real – Time Marketing
Customers are always in a hurry; they want the best of everything immediately. These days, customers are better equipped to gain insights into products, compare them and choose a product without relying on sales executives. A customer is completely in control of their purchase thanks to the highly evolved social media and search technologies. It, then, doesn’t come as a surprise that companies are investing a lot of money and time in fine-tuning their real time marketing capabilities. In order to make a positive impact on their business, marketers are making sure that they respond to their customers and engage with them on a continuous basis. Businesses, both large and small, are moving towards real-time marketing and responsiveness to make better products, services and provide more effective query redressal.
Artificial Intelligence – Advanced Machine learning
Artificial intelligence was, not long ago, thought of as something that might come true in the far distant future. But, that future is actually here.
In a survey of corporate executives conducted recently, nearly 32% said that voice assistant softwares like Siri, Assistant and Alexa are the most widely used forms of AI these days.
In fact, according to another survey, by the year 2020, more than 85% of customer interactions will be powered by AI bots. Another statistic says that more than 20% of all business content will come from AI by the year 2018. That’s less than two years from now!
We have all seen AI in the form of virtual assistants; however, that scene is going to change drastically. 2017 is probably the year when a number of AI powered devices that can effectively interact will become commonplace. In fact, advanced machine learning is also here to stay. A form of artificial intelligence, advanced machine learning makes use of superior technologies and learning methodologies to help a computer learn a new concept without actually having a specific program for it. This, in fact, helps in personality detections, mood detection, and the ability to effectively interact with the surroundings and deliver appropriate behaviors.
Adaptive security Architecture
In the USA alone, nearly 96% of internet users fear online security threat from hackers. And it is estimated that by the year 2018, a whopping 9 billion US dollars will be lost because of payment card fraud.
In the USA alone, nearly 96% of internet users fear online security threat from hackers. And it is estimated that by the year 2018, a whopping 9 billion US dollars will be lost because of payment card fraud.
These statistics manage to shed some light on the fact that online security and privacy are of paramount importance to both companies and individuals. In the year 2017, it is predicted that organizations will concentrate more on information security and privacy. Adaptive security architecture employs information security measures that bring together real-time data security systems and technologies in order to proactively prevent system attacks and threats from criminals and dubious networks. In fact, 2017 might also see the rise of mobile apps that come with built-in risk assurance and security testing capabilities.
A bonus (and bold!) prediction: Digital Twin
Yes, you read it right – digital twin. But we are not talking about making a robot to replace you! In fact, GE is working on a concept of making digital twin of a number of its products. It is making a perfect digital representation of every one of its systems and products. These virtual twins then harness useful data using built in sensors in their real-life counterparts. By responding to the information sent from the physical device, these digital twins are able to provide consistent monitoring, enhanced performance, support, and develop future projections using predictive analysis tools.
The beginning of a new year is always the right time to look back at the hits and misses of the year gone by. However, as true technologists – the ever so positive optimists – we always look ahead to the future with a bucket list of tech trends we are rearing to see come true.
